Netflix acquires digital rights for nine Tamil films

In a move to add extra joy to the Pongal celebrations, Netflix has announced the acquisition of digital rights for nine Tamil films, promising viewers an exciting lineup of blockbuster entertainment. The streaming giant revealed on Wednesday that these films, including highly anticipated projects like Ajith Kumar’s “Vidaa Muyarchi,” Kamal Haasan-starrer “Indian 2,” and Vikram’s “Thangalaan,” will be available on the platform following their theatrical releases. Monika Shergill, Vice President of Content at Netflix, shared insights about the diverse and promising lineup, stating, “Adding to the festive cheer of Pongal, we are excited to share a promising lineup of blockbuster entertainment from the finest makers of the Tamil industry.” Shergill highlighted the success of Tamil content on Netflix, noting a significant 50% year-on-year increase in viewership.
