Chennai, Jan 20: Madras High Court has granted actor Mansoor Ali Khan ten days to pay a cost of Rs 1 lakh imposed on him for filing a defamation suit against actor Trisha and others. The court deemed Khan’s suit as an attempt to gain publicity, resulting in the imposition of the cost.
Appearing before Justice N Sathish Kumar, Mansoor Ali Khan’s counsel argued that the financial burden of the imposed cost is substantial for his client, citing a current financial crisis. Consequently, the court allowed ten days for Khan to fulfill the cost and scheduled a compliance report on February 5.
The legal saga began when actor Mansoor Ali Khan approached the Madras High Court, seeking redress through a defamation suit against actors Trisha, Kushboo, and Chiranjeevi. Khan claimed Rs. 1 crore in damages, alleging that defamatory remarks were made against him on social media by the mentioned actors.
