As tensions escalate between Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi and the DMK-led state government, criticisms have emerged, with State Law Minister S Regupathy accusing the Governor of seeking constant media attention and engaging in activities that resemble a “media mania.” Regupathy expressed his concerns, stating, “Tamil Nadu Governor is working every day to get some news about himself.” He went on to claim that there appears to be an unspoken competition among Governors in southern states โ citing Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Telangana Governor Tamilisai, and Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi โ as to whose name garners more media attention. The Law Minister suggested that these Governors, appointed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), are seemingly acting more like state spokespersons for the BJP rather than maintaining the neutral and non-partisan role expected of their constitutional positions. Regupathy accused the Governors of engaging in activities aimed at criticising the state government to attract media attention. He emphasized that their actions reflect a departure from the expected conduct of Governors, who are meant to act independently and uphold constitutional values.
