Cong cadres up in arms against Karti Chidambaram

In a surprising turn of events, a faction within the Tamil Nadu Congress’s Sivaganga unit has expressed strong opposition to fielding Karti Chidambaram, the current Member of Parliament and son of former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The resolution was passed during a meeting attended by key figures, including former Union minister EM Sudarsana Natchiappan, revealing internal divisions within the party at a crucial time when seat-sharing talks with the DMK are underway.
The decision to oppose Karti Chidambaram’s candidacy was reached during a meeting where Natchiappan proposed the resolution, and it received unanimous support from those present, including former supporters of P Chidambaram, who had represented the Sivaganga constituency seven times in Parliament.
It’s worth noting that Natchiappan had previously opposed Karti’s candidacy in the 2019 elections but later backed his campaign. The recent resolution reflects a renewed and collective stance against Karti’s candidacy within the party’s Sivaganga unit.
Natchiappan clarified that the meeting was initially intended to discuss the appointment of booth agents in the constituency, following directives from the party high command. However, the gathering took an unexpected turn, with a substantial number of attendees demanding a resolution against Karti Chidambaram contesting from Sivaganga once again
