Chennai, Feb 9: In a significant development, the Madras High Court (MHC) has granted anticipatory bail with conditions to Tamil Nadu BJP functionary Amar Prasad Reddy in connection with an alleged assault case. The decision came after Justice CV Karthikeyan presided over the anticipatory bail plea filed by Reddy.
During the hearing, senior counsel RC Paul Kanagaraj, representing Reddy, argued that the case against his client was politically motivated and fabricated. He emphasized that Reddy was not given a fair opportunity to defend himself before the case was registered against him.
On the other hand, the government advocate objected to the submission, asserting that the case was registered based on a complaint lodged by the sister of the alleged victim.
After considering the arguments from both sides, Justice CV Karthikeyan granted anticipatory bail to Amar Prasad Reddy. However, the court imposed certain conditions, directing Reddy to appear before the concerned police station for 10 days.
The granting of anticipatory bail by the Madras High Court provides temporary relief to Amar Prasad Reddy amidst the ongoing legal proceedings.
