Final hearing of K Ponmudy’s Suo Motu case postponed

The eagerly awaited final hearing of the suo motu criminal revision pertaining to the discharge of former minister K Ponmudy from a disproportionate asset (DA) case has been postponed. Justice N Anand Venkatesh, presiding over the matter, has rescheduled the hearing dates following a request from senior counsel NR Elango, representing the ex-minister. Initially slated for February 19 to February 22, the final hearing has now been pushed to March 12 to 15. This decision comes after NR Elango’s plea to alter the dates, which the judge accepted, allowing for more time to prepare and present arguments. The case, which garnered attention last year, originated on August 10 when Justice N Anand Venkatesh took the initiative to initiate suo motu criminal revision against the discharge of K Ponmudy and his wife from the DA case. The judge cited various suspicions surrounding the proceedings of the case, prompting the need for a thorough reevaluation.
