JACTO-GEO withdraws one-day protest after CM’s assurance

In a significant development, the members of the Joint Action Council of Teachers’ Organisations-Government Employees Organisations (JACTO-GEO) have decided to withdraw their planned one-day protest scheduled for Thursday. This decision comes in the wake of a fruitful interaction with Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday, where assurances were made regarding their demands. Furthermore, it was revealed that the Chief Minister assured the council of making announcements addressing their concerns during the ongoing assembly session. The CM reaffirmed the commitment of the DMK government to fulfill the demands put forth by JACTO-GEO. Additionally, he clarified that while some demands would be addressed immediately through assembly announcements, others would be resolved over time. Despite this positive development, members of JACTO-GEO have not yet reached a decision regarding the indefinite strike announced for February 26. The decision to withdraw the strike will likely depend on the government’s continued commitment to addressing their demands and the progress made in fulfilling them.
