DMK announces meetings against Modi regime

In a bold move aimed at voicing dissent against the current Modi regime, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has announced plans to hold meetings across all Lok Sabha constituencies from February 16 to 18. These gatherings, organized under the banner “Urimaigalai Meetka Stalinin Kural” (Stalin’s voice to retrieve rights), will rally against what the party perceives as fascist tendencies within the government. In a letter addressed to party cadres, DMK leader M K Stalin outlined the theme of the meetings: “Let fascism fall, let INDIA win.” This rallying cry underscores the party’s commitment to challenging authoritarianism and upholding the principles of democracy and constitutional rights. Stalin emphasized the significance of the upcoming Parliamentary elections, suggesting that they will determine the future trajectory of India’s democratic process. He raised critical questions about the integrity of the electoral process, the respect for citizens’ voting rights, the preservation of democracy, the survival of the Constitution, and the protection of state plurality and rights. The decision to hold these meetings comes against the backdrop of heightened security measures in the national capital, Delhi. Stalin condemned the government’s response to the ongoing farmer protests, likening the situation to a state of war orchestrated to suppress dissenting voices. The DMK’s stance reflects growing concerns about the erosion of civil liberties and democratic norms under the Modi regime.
