K Selvaperunthagai, the President of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC), launched a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, asserting that Tamil Nadu stands as the sole state in India where the BJP has failed to establish a foothold. In a statement issued on Sunday, the Congress MLA condemned the BJP government’s track record, accusing it of neglecting the welfare of the people and exacerbating divisions along religious lines for political gain.Selvaperunthagai lambasted the BJP government’s tenure, alleging that it has failed to fulfill its electoral promises over the past decade. He criticized the government’s socio-economic policies, highlighting India’s dismal ranking of 111 out of 125 countries in the International Hunger Index 2023. Selvaperunthagai questioned the efficacy of Modi’s poverty alleviation efforts, citing the country’s downward trajectory in the hunger index rankings as evidence of the government’s shortcomings.Expressing deep concern over the direction in which the country is headed, Selvaperunthagai underscored the urgent need for awareness regarding the injustices perpetrated by the Modi administration. To this end, the TNCC announced plans to initiate a widespread awareness campaign aimed at educating the public about the Modi government’s failures and injustices against India.As part of the campaign, the TNCC will prepare informational leaflets detailing Modi’s alleged transgressions and distribute them extensively across the state. The campaign is slated to kick off in the first week of March, signaling the party’s commitment to mobilizing public opinion and holding the government accountable for its actions.
