Traffic diversions ahead of CMRL construction in Nandanam

In anticipation of upcoming construction activities by the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) at Nandanam Metro Station, the Chennai Traffic Police has initiated a week-long trial of traffic diversions around Venkatanaryana Road, set to commence this Sunday. These temporary measures aim to manage traffic flow efficiently and mitigate congestion during the construction period.
The primary diversion entails the closure of Venkat Narayanan Road for vehicles traveling from Anna Salai towards T.Nagar. At the Nandanam Signal junction, vehicles will encounter restrictions and will be rerouted via Link Road (now designated as one-way), Model House Road Junction, South West Boag Road (with a right turn), and a subsequent left turn onto Venkat Narayanan Road to reach their intended destinations.
Additionally, vehicles, including Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) buses, originating from Burkit Road in T.Nagar through Mooparappan Street, will be redirected with a right turn at South West Boag Road junction (one-way). They will then proceed with a left turn onto CIT Nagar 4th Main Road and CIT Nagar 3rd Main Road to access Anna Salai.
Furthermore, vehicles traveling from South West Boag Road and South Dhandapani Street will face restrictions from proceeding towards Venkat Narayana Road. Instead, they are permitted to travel on CIT Nagar 4th Main Road and CIT Nagar 3rd Main Road, leading to Anna Salai for reaching their destinations.
The trial period for these traffic diversions aims to assess their effectiveness in ensuring a smoother flow of traffic amidst the anticipated construction activities by CMRL. Commuters are urged to plan their routes accordingly and cooperate with the designated diversions to facilitate a hassle-free commute.
