In a progressive move aimed at modernizing city-wide surveillance capabilities, Chennai police has introduced Mobile Command and Control Centre (MCCC) vehicles equipped with cutting-edge technology. As part of the ambitious â‚č93.50 crore Mega City Policing project, this initiative represents a significant step forward in bolstering security measures and ensuring public safety across the city.

At the heart of this initiative is the integration of 3,090 AI-powered CCTV cameras strategically positioned at key locations throughout Chennai. These state-of-the-art cameras are seamlessly connected to the existing Integrated Command and Control Centre, forming a robust network designed to monitor and respond to potential security threats in real-time.
The inaugural phase of the project features four MCCC vehicles strategically deployed to enhance situational awareness during public events and law enforcement operations. These specially designed vehicles are equipped with a range of advanced technologies, including drones and additional CCTV cameras, enabling them to provide live video feeds to the central command center.
Designed to withstand the rigors of urban environments, these rugged MCCC vehicles serve as mobile hubs for surveillance operations, facilitating rapid deployment and flexible monitoring capabilities. Whether deployed at large-scale events, crowded public spaces, or high-security zones, these vehicles play a pivotal role in enhancing the city’s overall security infrastructure.
The introduction of MCCC vehicles marks a significant milestone in Chennai’s efforts to leverage technology for public safety and law enforcement. By harnessing the power of advanced surveillance systems and real-time data analytics, authorities can proactively identify and respond to security threats, ensuring a safer and more secure environment for residents and visitors alike.
Moreover, the integration of AI-powered CCTV cameras enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of surveillance operations, enabling authorities to detect and address potential security breaches with greater precision and accuracy. This proactive approach to city-wide surveillance underscores Chennai’s commitment to embracing innovation and leveraging technology to address evolving security challenges.
