DMK Treasurer and Member of Parliament, TR Baalu, took a swipe at his political opponent, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, asserting that the AIADMK’s decline began under Palaniswami’s leadership.
Baalu’s comments come amidst a war of words between the DMK and the AIADMK, particularly over allegations of corruption and electoral malpractice. Baalu slammed Palaniswami for his recent accusations against the ruling DMK government regarding electoral bonds, stating that the DMK had transparently received funds through electoral bonds without compromising its integrity.
Highlighting the BJP’s alleged involvement in obtaining electoral bonds through coercion and intimidation, Baalu challenged Palaniswami to condemn the BJP’s tactics. He questioned Palaniswami’s silence on the issue, particularly given his assertion that there is no formal alliance between the AIADMK and the BJP.
Baalu further emphasized that the DMK had not resorted to threats or extortion to secure funds, implicitly criticizing Palaniswami’s insinuations about the DMK’s financial dealings. Baalu’s remarks underscore the growing tension between the DMK and the AIADMK, as both parties vie for political dominance in Tamil Nadu.
