BJP President K. Annamalai delivered a strong message against the distribution of freebies, stating that his party would not promote such practices. Addressing a workersā meeting of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu, Annamalai emphasized the importance of prioritizing development and growth over freebies, asserting that people were more interested in long-term progress than short-term giveaways.
Annamalai highlighted a recent incident in Karur where silver utensils were distributed to a specific section of people, criticizing the act as emblematic of the culture of freebies. He reiterated the BJP’s commitment to enhancing the standard of living for all citizens through comprehensive development initiatives rather than resorting to populist measures.
Referencing the distribution of gifts like containers and anklets to voters in Karur, Annamalai pointed fingers at former Minister V. Senthilbalaji of the DMK, alleging his involvement in such irregularities. He underscored the need for ethical conduct in politics and condemned any attempts to manipulate voters through inducements.
