Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founder Kamal Haasan has issued a fervent appeal to the people of Tamil Nadu, urging them to withhold their support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming elections. Speaking during a campaign event in Chidambaram, he emphasized the detrimental impact of another term for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on the principles of social justice and democracy.
Kamal Haasan, while canvassing for votes for Thol. Thirumavalavan, the president of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and the INDIA bloc’s Chidambaram Parliamentary candidate, underscored the NDA’s purported stance against social justice and democratic values. He cautioned that re-electing the BJP to power would exacerbate the erosion of democratic principles in the country.
The veteran actor-turned-politician expressed grave concern over the perceived threat to democracy in India, asserting that the BJP’s policies and actions posed a significant danger to the nation’s democratic fabric. Kamal Haasan emphasized the need for collective action, joining forces with secular and like-minded political entities, to safeguard democracy and protect the country from the alleged machinations of the BJP.
