Union Minister of State, L Murugan, launched a scathing attack on the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu on Monday, criticizing its alleged inaction against the increasing crimes targeting the SC/ST community.
Murugan condemned Chief Minister MK Stalin for failing to address incidents like the one in Vengaivayal, where human feces were reportedly mixed into an overhead water tank in a Dalit village. He accused Stalin of exploiting SC/ST communities for political gain and neglecting their safety and welfare.
Pointing to a similar incident in Pudukkottai district where cow dung was mixed into a drinking water tank, Murugan highlighted a disturbing trend of such atrocities occurring in Tamil Nadu over the past year and a half. He criticized the state government for its failure to prevent these incidents and protect vulnerable communities.
Murugan accused the DMK government of downplaying the severity of such crimes and attempting to deflect attention from its responsibility by attributing the incidents to algae in the tank. He condemned this response as unacceptable and called for stringent action against the perpetrators.
In addition to addressing caste-based violence, Murugan also criticized the government’s handling of the growing drug culture in the state. He accused the DMK of sheltering drug peddlers and failing to take decisive action against them, implicating the party’s involvement in these illegal activities.
Expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order situation, Murugan called upon Chief Minister Stalin and the state police to identify the culprits behind these crimes and ensure that they face appropriate consequences.
