Chief Minister M K Stalin extended his warm greetings to workers on the eve of May Day, emphasizing his party’s unwavering support for the labor community.
In a statement, Stalin reiterated his party’s commitment to the welfare of workers, affirming that the DMK has consistently stood by laborers both in government and opposition roles in the Assembly.
Highlighting the government’s initiatives for workers’ welfare, Stalin underscored various schemes implemented by the DMK government. These include granting paid holiday on May Day and providing a 20 percent bonus to laborers, among others.
Stalin further outlined key measures taken to enhance workers’ livelihoods, such as the revision of minimum wages for 44 occupations, establishment of the Tamil Nadu Salt Pan workers welfare board, and the formation of the Tamil Nadu Gig workers welfare board. Notably, the pension for workers registered with unorganized labor welfare boards has been raised from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,200.
Reflecting on his government’s achievements, Stalin highlighted significant reforms aimed at ensuring the well-being of workers. These include provisions for seating facilities, safe drinking water, and toilet amenities in workplaces, as well as amendments to the Tamil Nadu Shops and Establishments Act, 1947, aimed at safeguarding workers’ interests under the Dravidian Model government.
