Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena has directed TANGEDCO officials to address the persistent issues causing frequent power outages in certain areas of the city and promptly respond to consumer complaints. His instructions came after an inspection of TANGEDCO’s “Minnagam” call centre, located at its headquarters on Anna Salai.
Meena highlighted that TANGEDCO has deployed 60 flying squads comprising technicians to swiftly address power failures in Chennai, even during nighttime hours. The call centre operates round-the-clock with 65 staff members across three shifts, ensuring prompt recording of consumer grievances and immediate notification to the relevant section offices. Each shift is supervised by two superintendent engineers to oversee operations effectively.
Emphasizing on accountability, Meena stated that the call centre staff diligently follow up with consumers until their grievances are resolved, closing complaints only after confirming resolution and notifying consumers via SMS. Out of the 23.97 lakh complaints received, action was taken on 23.93 lakh complaints, reflecting a commendable 99.82% resolution rate.
