Third Phase of Lok Sabha Elections Commences


Today marks the commencement of the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections, with voters across 11 states and union territories exercising their democratic right to elect their representatives. Polling began at 7 am and will continue until 5 pm, providing voters with ample opportunity to cast their ballots.
A total of 93 constituencies are up for grabs in this phase, spanning states such as Assam, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu’s sole seat. Additionally, polling will take place in five seats in Bihar, five in West Bengal, ten in Uttar Pradesh, nine in Madhya Pradesh, and eleven in Maharashtra.
The Election Commission of India has ensured comprehensive arrangements for smooth polling, with approximately 18.5 lakh polling officials deployed across 1.85 lakh polling stations. This massive logistical operation aims to facilitate the participation of over 17.24 crore voters, comprising 8.85 crore males and 8.39 crore females.
With over 1,300 candidates vying for victory in this phase, including 120 women, the electoral landscape is diverse and vibrant. Candidates from various political parties are contesting fiercely to secure the mandate of the people and represent their constituencies in the Lok Sabha.
As voters flock to polling stations to exercise their franchise, they play a crucial role in shaping the future of the nation. Their decisions will determine the composition of the next Lok Sabha and influence the direction of policy-making and governance in the country.
