Anna University to tie-up with Lankan varsity


In a significant move towards fostering academic collaboration and promoting research in Tamil arts and culture, Anna University has partnered with Eastern University, Sri Lanka. The collaboration aims to facilitate joint research activities that delve into various aspects of Tamil heritage, language, and traditions.
The Centre for Development of Tamil in Engineering and Technology at Anna University has been appointed as the Coordinator for these research endeavors, signaling the university’s commitment to spearheading this initiative.
A senior professor from Anna University revealed that the collaboration will kick off with an International Research Conference scheduled to take place from June 13. This three-day conference, to be held at Vantharumoolai, Chekalady, Sri Lanka, will bring together scholars and researchers from leading universities across Asia, including the Vellore Institute of Technology.
The conference will cover a wide range of themes related to Tamil arts and culture, including historical heritage, language and literature, traditional communication systems, and societal norms. Additionally, topics such as arts and crafts, architecture, traditional attire and games, as well as cuisine and culinary traditions, will be explored.
Furthermore, the conference will examine the influence of globalization on Tamil arts and culture, shedding light on contemporary challenges and opportunities faced by Tamil communities worldwide.
Following the conference, the focus will shift towards addressing research gaps and identifying areas for further exploration. The research activities will provide valuable insights into the current state of Tamil arts and culture, paving the way for future academic endeavors in this field.
This collaborative effort between Anna University and Eastern University, Sri Lanka, holds immense promise for advancing scholarship and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Tamil community.
