Savukku Shankar undergoes medical examination

YouTuber Savukku Shankar found himself at the center of legal and medical scrutiny as he underwent a thorough examination at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) on Thursday.

Arrested earlier by Theni police in connection with the seizure of ganja, Shankar was recently transported from Madurai and placed in Coimbatore Central Prison in the wee hours of Wednesday. The subsequent day, amidst tight security arrangements, he was escorted to CMCH for medical evaluation.

“Various medical tests, including an X-ray, were conducted, focusing notably on his hand,” stated an official familiar with the matter. The examination, spanning approximately an hour, concluded with Shankar being escorted back to prison under heavy police presence.

The legal entanglements surrounding Shankar continue to mount, with cases filed against him across various police stations. Chennai police added to the fray by arresting him in two additional cases. One case stems from a complaint lodged by Veeralakshmi, the founder, and leader of Tamilar Munnetra Padai, regarding derogatory remarks allegedly made by Shankar against women police officers. The other case involves an old harassment complaint filed by a female media professional with the Chennai Cybercrime police.

The Chennai police served notices of arrest to the prison staff in relation to both cases, signaling the widening scope of legal action against the controversial YouTuber.

In a related development, the Fourth Judicial Magistrate court adjourned the hearing on the five-day custody petition filed by Coimbatore Cyber Crime police to May 13, prolonging the legal saga surrounding Savukku Shankar.
