Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu, Satybrata Sahoo, announced on Monday that over 38,500 government employees, including 4,500 micro observers, will be involved in the counting of votes across the state on June 4. This comes as part of the extensive preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha election results.Sahoo highlighted that the first phase of training for these employees is already underway, with a second round of training scheduled before counting day. His statements followed a video conferencing meeting chaired by Chief Electoral Officer Rajiv Kumar, which focused on reviewing the preparedness and arrangements for vote counting.
“In Tamil Nadu, the counting of votes for 39 constituencies will take place in 39 centers, spread across 234 rooms in 43 buildings,” Sahoo explained. “Usually, 14 tables are placed in a counting room. Additional tables can be set up with the Election Commission’s permission, depending on the number of voters and votes cast.”
The counting process is set to begin at 8 am statewide. Initially, postal votes will be counted, followed by the electronic voting machine (EVM) votes starting at 8.30 am. Sahoo emphasized that the counting process at each table will be recorded on camera, with the surrounding events also being video recorded to ensure transparency.
