A new controversy has emerged in the realm of social media influencers and traffic safety as a complaint has been lodged against YouTuber VJ Siddhu. The complaint, filed by Sherin from Kilpauk, accuses VJ Siddhu of reckless driving while using a mobile phone, a behavior documented in a video on his YouTube channel. The video in question not only shows Siddhu engaging in unsafe driving practices but also contains obscene language and double entendres. The complaint, submitted to the Office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Traffic, highlights the potential negative impact such content could have on students and youth, urging authorities to take appropriate action against Siddhu for his traffic violations.
This incident mirrors a recent case involving another YouTuber, TTF Vasan. Vasan was arrested in Madurai for similar offenses, including reckless driving and using a mobile phone while driving. The complaint against Vasan was filed by Armed Reserve sub-inspector and social media monitoring officer Manibarathi, who reported Vasan’s dangerous driving near the Vandiyur toll gate on May 15.
Following his arrest, the Madurai court granted Vasan bail on May 30. The court also directed him to release a video apologizing for his actions and pledging not to repeat such behavior. This legal precedent sets the stage for potential actions against VJ Siddhu, as authorities continue to crack down on influencers who promote unsafe driving practices.
The rising trend of influencers filming themselves while driving has raised significant concerns about road safety. Using mobile phones while driving not only endangers the driver but also poses a serious risk to other road users. Authorities are increasingly scrutinizing such behavior, recognizing the influential role these personalities play in shaping public behavior, particularly among young audiences.
