Former Telangana governor Tamilsai Soundararajan has voiced strong criticism of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government, predicting that the people of Tamil Nadu will eventually recognize what she described as the DMK’s misgovernance and shift their support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).Addressing reporters at Katpadi on Sunday, Soundararajan interpreted the positive projections for the BJP in recent exit polls as a sign of increasing support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “This is only the beginning. The exit polls results show that people have prepared themselves for a BJP government in Tamil Nadu,” she said. Soundararajan expressed confidence that the BJP would secure more seats than the exit polls predicted.
Soundararajan dismissed the exit polls forecasting a DMK victory in most Tamil Nadu seats, asserting that the public would soon recognize the DMK’s failures and back the BJP. She alleged widespread corruption and a deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
“There were three or four murders in Chennai itself in the past few days. There is no progress in the investigation of the gruesome murder of a Congress functionary in Tirunelveli,” she stated. She also highlighted issues of ganja peddling across the state and criticized the DMK for increases in electricity tariffs and registration costs, which she said have burdened the populace.
Comparison with Prime Minister Modi
In a pointed comparison, Soundararajan criticized Chief Minister M K Stalin and his allies for their opposition to Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Kanyakumari. “Prime Minister came to Kanyakumari to meditate. But Chief Minister M K Stalin went to Kodaikanal to play golf,” she charged, emphasizing a contrast between Modi’s focus on spiritual reflection and Stalin’s leisure activities.
