Celebrating the resounding victory of the INDIA bloc in Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Tuesday dedicated the historic win to his late father, M. Karunanidhi. Speaking at the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) headquarters, Stalin emphasized that the people’s mandate was a clear rebuke of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) alleged misuse of money, power, and divisive tactics.
Stalin accused the BJP of launching a “psychological assault” through a campaign aimed at rewriting the Constitution and dividing the populace. “The victory of our alliance is the people’s verdict against the BJP, which attempted to rewrite the Constitution and divide people through a hate campaign,” he said, stressing that the electorate’s decision was a rejection of the BJP’s strategies.
Victory Against BJP’s Campaign Tactics
“The historically significant victory has defeated the money, abuse of power, and media campaign of the BJP,” Stalin asserted. He praised the electorate for seeing through the BJP’s efforts to influence the outcome through financial and media manipulation.
Commitment to Safeguarding Democracy
Regarding the DMK’s future actions, Stalin reaffirmed the party’s commitment to upholding constitutional values and democracy. “Once the full results are out, the DMK will continuously advance its politics to safeguard the Constitution and democracy. I dedicate the victory to the late Kalaignar, as was promised on his centenary,” he declared.
Stalin on Potential Prime Ministerial Bid
When questioned about a potential bid for the Prime Minister’s post, Stalin responded with humility, “I have responded to it many times. I know my limits.” His remarks reflected a focus on his role within Tamil Nadu rather than ambitions for national leadership.
Anti-Modi Sentiment in Tamil Nadu
Stalin noted the widespread anti-Modi sentiment across the country, particularly palpable in Tamil Nadu. “We expected it. There is a widespread anti-Modi wave across the country. It’s fully felt in Tamil Nadu. The result showed it,” he observed.
Modi’s Visits and Thirukkural References
Addressing whether Prime Minister Modi’s frequent visits to Tamil Nadu had any impact, Stalin pointed out the irony in Modi citing the Thirukkural while allegedly disrespecting Tamils in other states. “Modi cited Thirukkural on many instances, and the people of Tamil Nadu are also aware of how he insulted Tamils when he campaigned in Odisha,” he remarked.
Future Plans for the INDIA Bloc
Stalin also highlighted the alliance’s plans for the immediate future. “Leaders of the INDIA bloc are meeting tomorrow in Delhi. I am also leaving for the meeting. We will meet and decide,” he revealed, indicating ongoing strategic discussions among the coalition partners.
