Security tight for Modi’s swearing-in ceremony

Over 9,000 guests from various walks of life are set to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi and his ministerial colleagues at the forecourt lawn of Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday. The event is poised to be a grand affair, with dignitaries from South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) nations among the invitees, emphasizing the significance of regional cooperation.
Sources have revealed that a comprehensive security plan is in place, featuring a multi-layered security force with five companies of paramilitary personnel, National Security Guard (NSG) commandos, drones, and snipers. This heightened security is akin to the measures implemented during the G20 summit last year, reflecting the importance of the event.
A police officer involved in the security arrangements stated that the event, being held within the Rashtrapati Bhavan premises, will have a robust three-layered security setup both inside and outside the venue. “Around 2,500 police personnel, including five companies of paramilitary and Delhi Armed Police (DAP) jawans, have been planned to be deployed around the venue,” the officer added. Additionally, snipers will be strategically positioned along the routes taken by the dignitaries to ensure their safety.
The national capital will be on high alert throughout the day, given the presence of numerous high-profile attendees. The security detail will include advanced surveillance measures, with drones monitoring the area to prevent any untoward incidents.
Dignitaries from SAARC nations, including top leadership from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal, Mauritius, and Seychelles, are expected to attend the ceremony. According to officials, these international guests will be provided with designated routes from their hotels to Rashtrapati Bhavan and back to ensure smooth and secure transit.
The swearing-in ceremony, marking Narendra Modi’s third consecutive term as Prime Minister, will be a significant event in Indian political history. The elaborate guest list includes leaders from politics, business, entertainment, and other sectors, reflecting the diverse support base of the NDA government.
As preparations reach their final stages, the meticulous planning underscores the importance of the occasion. The grand event will not only mark the continuation of Narendra Modi’s leadership but also highlight India’s focus on strengthening regional ties and maintaining robust security protocols for high-profile events.
With the swearing-in set for Sunday, all eyes will be on Rashtrapati Bhavan as the nation witnesses the beginning of a new chapter in its political journey.
