The Justice Chandru Committee’s recommendations addressing casteism in schools have come under fire from Tamil Nadu BJP leader Karuppu M Muruganandam, who has labeled the report as anti-Hindu and called for its immediate withdrawal. Speaking to reporters after a party meeting in Thanjavur on Tuesday, the BJP state secretary expressed strong opposition to the report.Muruganandam criticized the recommendations, suggesting they appear politically motivated. He contrasted the reportās tone with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance, emphasizing that Modi has adhered strictly to the Constitution over the past decade, with a sole focus on national development and global progress.
Additionally, Muruganandam highlighted the recent Kallakurichi hooch tragedy, urging that the case be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a thorough and impartial investigation. He also called on Chief Minister MK Stalin to visit the affected area and provide consolation to the grieving families.
Muruganandam’s remarks reflect the BJPās stance on the Chandru panel report and underline ongoing tensions in Tamil Nadu over educational reforms and responses to local crises. The debate over the report’s implications and the demand for high-level intervention in the hooch tragedy signal significant political discourse in the state.
