In a significant move to modernize technical education, Tamil Nadu has introduced four new add-on polytechnic courses under the ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ scheme. These courses, designed for final semester diploma students across government, government-aided, and self-financing polytechnic colleges, aim to align students with emerging industry needs and technological advancements.
The New Courses
The newly introduced courses include:
Building Information Systems (BIS): Focuses on the application of technology in managing building and infrastructure data throughout its lifecycle.
Industry 4.0: Aims to familiarize students with the concepts of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies.
Internet of Things (IoT) and Applications: Provides insights into the interconnected network of physical devices and their applications in various sectors.
Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Design and Industrial Metaverse: Covers the design principles and practical aspects of PCBs, along with exploring the emerging field of industrial metaverse.
Implementation and Collaboration
These courses have been developed in collaboration with industry experts and the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC). The TNSDC will oversee the implementation, ensuring that the courses are integrated into the curriculum starting from the current semester. This initiative reflects a proactive approach to equip students with skills that are directly relevant to the evolving job market.
