Manchester City, July 19: Manchester City have finalized the £30.8m transfer of Brazilian winger Savinho on a five-year deal. The 20-year-old joins the Premier League champions after a standout season with Girona, where he played a key role in their historic qualification for the Champions League.
Savinho, who spent last season on loan at Girona from Troyes—both clubs under the City Football Group umbrella—contributed 11 goals and 10 assists across all competitions. His performances helped Girona secure an impressive third-place finish in La Liga.
Internationally, Savinho, also known as Savio, was part of Brazil’s squad that reached the Copa América quarter-finals earlier this month. He scored his first international goal in a group-stage victory over Paraguay.
In a statement, Savinho expressed his excitement about joining Manchester City, saying, “I’m thrilled to join Manchester City, the Premier League champions and Club World Cup winners. Everyone knows they are the best team in the world right now, so it’s very exciting for me. Savinho began his European career with Atlético Mineiro before moving to Troyes in 2022. After a loan spell at PSV Eindhoven, last season marked his first regular starting role in senior football at Girona.
Manchester City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, praised Savinho, stating, “Savinho is a very exciting player, and City fans are going to enjoy watching him. His achievements last season were remarkable, and he’s already a full Brazil international. He has a significant role to play for Manchester City this season and beyond.”
Savinho will wear the number 26 shirt for Manchester City.
