Southern Railway has announced the cancellation of the Antyodaya Express train between Tambaram and Nagercoil for 10 days due to ongoing track development work. This disruption will affect travel plans for passengers between these two locations. From July 23 to July 31, the Antyodaya Express, which typically departs from Tambaram at 11 pm, will be cancelled. The corresponding service from Nagercoil to Tambaram is also cancelled until the end of the month.
During this period, adjustments have been made to other train services to accommodate passengers. The train normally departing from Tambaram at 7.30 pm will instead leave from Chennai Egmore at 7 pm on July 24, 28, 29, and 31. Similarly, the Nagercoil to Tambaram train, which usually leaves at 4.30 pm, will arrive at Chennai Egmore instead of Tambaram on July 23, 25, 29, and 30.
In addition to the Antyodaya Express cancellations, other trains to Chennai will be partially cancelled or delayed due to engineering and signal improvement works at Tambaram. The Sengottai-Tambaram Express (Train No. 20684) will be short-terminated at Villupuram on July 24, 26, 27, 29, and 31. Conversely, the Tambaram-Sengottai Express (Train No. 20683) will depart from Villupuram at 11:15 pm on July 24, 25, 28, and 30, instead of Tambaram.
These changes are necessary to facilitate essential track and signal improvements, which aim to enhance the overall safety and efficiency of rail services. Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and stay updated on further announcements from Southern Railway.
