At the audio launch of the much-anticipated film Thangalaan, National Award-winning actor Vikram revealed that his role in the upcoming movie has been the most challenging of his career. Known for his remarkable physical and mental transformations, Vikram described Thangalaan as a test beyond anything he has faced before.Addressing the audience, Vikram reflected on his past roles in films like Sethu, Pithamagan, Anniyan, I, and Raavanan. While acknowledging the demanding nature of these roles, he emphasized that they were a fraction of the difficulty he encountered while preparing for Thangalaan. “All of them were just 8-10% of what Thangalaan put me through,” Vikram said.
Drawing a personal parallel, Vikram shared his own struggles, revealing a poignant chapter from his past. He spoke about his early career when a leg injury and subsequent surgeries nearly ended his acting dreams. Despite doctors’ grim prognosis and years of physical and emotional hardship, Vikram’s unwavering determination kept him moving forward. âWhen doctors said I wouldnât walk again, I was crazy enough to believe otherwise,â Vikram recalled, his voice tinged with emotion.
He recounted how his passion for acting persisted through failures and challenges, paralleling his journey with that of his character in Thangalaan. “The characterâs doggedness in achieving his goals, even when deemed unattainable, resonated deeply with me,” he said.
Thangalaan, directed by Pa Ranjith, also stars Parvathy, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, and Daniel Caltagirone. The film features music by GV Prakash Kumar, editing by Selva RK, and cinematography by Kishor Kumar. Produced by Studio Greenâs KE Gnanavel Raja, Neelam Productions, and Jio Cinema, Thangalaan is set for a worldwide release on August 15.
