The Southern Railway’s Chennai Division has announced disruptions in suburban train services from August 15 to 18 due to ongoing remodelling work at Tambaram yard. Several key MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) services will be impacted during this period, affecting key routes including Beach-Melmaruvathur, Tambaram-Villupuram, and Egmore-Pondicherry.According to an official release, trains on the Tambaram-Villupuram route will be cancelled from August 15 to 17. Suburban trains operating on the Chennai Beach-Tambaram route will run only up to Pallavaram between 8:30 am and 1:15 pm, and after 10:30 pm. Outside these hours, trains on this route will run at reduced frequencies. Similarly, services on the Tambaram-Chengalpet route will operate from Guduvanchery during the specified hours.
Passengers are advised to check updated schedules and plan their travel accordingly due to these changes. The Southern Railway has apologized for the inconvenience and assured that the remodelling work is crucial for enhancing the infrastructure and service quality.
