In a significant update for the much-anticipated film Coolie, the makers have officially announced that Telugu superstar Nagarjuna will be playing the role of Simon in the Rajinikanth-starrer. The announcement was made on Nagarjuna’s birthday, adding to the excitement surrounding the project. Directed by the dynamic Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie is shaping up to be a major pan-Indian release, with its release planned in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada.

Nagarjuna’s inclusion in the cast adds another layer of star power to Coolie, which already boasts an impressive lineup. Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir, who will be making his Tamil debut with this film, has been cast as Dayal. The previous week also saw Kannada star Upendra announcing his involvement in the project via social media, sharing a picture with Rajinikanth that went viral. These casting choices underline the film’s pan-Indian appeal, ensuring it will attract a diverse audience across different regions.

The film also marks a reunion between Rajinikanth and veteran actor Sathyaraj after 38 years, having last shared screen space in the 1986 film Mr Bharath. Adding to the excitement, Shruti Haasan has been cast in a pivotal role, further enhancing the film’s star appeal.

Coolie went on floors in July and has been generating buzz ever since. Lokesh Kanagaraj, known for his intense and gripping storytelling, is expected to bring a fresh take on the classic Coolie narrative. The film’s technical crew includes some of the best in the industry, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Girish Gangadharan, and editing by Philomin Raj. The action sequences will be choreographed by the renowned duo Anbariv, ensuring that the film delivers high-octane thrills.

The dialogues for the film are penned by Lokesh Kanagaraj in collaboration with Chandhru Anbazhagan, who has also contributed to the additional screenplay. This collaboration hints at a film that will be both commercially entertaining and rich in narrative depth.

Scheduled for release in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada, Coolie is set to be a true pan-Indian film, aiming to capture audiences across linguistic and regional divides. With a cast that includes top stars from various film industries, Coolie is poised to be a blockbuster that resonates with a broad audience.

As the production progresses, Sun Pictures, the film’s production company, has promised to continue revealing key casting updates each evening. With the involvement of industry heavyweights like Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, and Lokesh Kanagaraj, expectations for Coolie are sky-high. Fans across India are eagerly waiting to see how this star-studded collaboration unfolds on the big screen.
