Leader of Opposition and AIADMK general secretary, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, launched a scathing attack on the ruling DMK government on Monday, accusing it of neglecting critical issues such as law and order and the rising drug menace in Tamil Nadu.Palaniswami expressed grave concern over recent reports indicating a surge in drug abuse among college students across the state. He criticized the DMK government for its apparent lack of attention to such pressing matters, which he believes are deteriorating under its watch.
“The state is witnessing an alarming rise in murders and narcotics sales, pointing to a severe decline in law and order. However, instead of addressing these critical issues, the DMK government is more focused on organizing car races and conducting photoshoots in foreign countries,” Palaniswami said, alluding to the Formula 4 car race recently held in Chennai and the Chief Minister’s foreign tour aimed at attracting investment.
The AIADMK leader urged the state government to shift its focus from publicity-driven events to the real issues affecting the people. He called for immediate and concrete measures to curb the drug problem and restore law and order in Tamil Nadu. Palaniswami’s comments come in the wake of reports about college students being arrested for drug possession, which he described as deeply concerning.
He further alleged that Tamil Nadu has become a significant hub in the “web of international drug peddling” under the DMK regime. “It is no exaggeration to say that the state’s current situation under DMK rule is alarming,” he said.
Palaniswami also condemned the DMK government for what he described as attempts to “conceal the real, pathetic state” of the state. He urged Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to prioritize addressing the fundamental problems facing Tamil Nadu rather than focusing on the next publicity stunt.
