Theater owners have submitted a request to the government, asking for permission to screen movies round the clock. This move comes as part of their efforts to enhance the cinema experience and increase revenue streams. The theater owners have also demanded that a maintenance fee of 10% be collected from the ticket price to help manage the upkeep of the theaters. They pointed out that other states allow 24-hour movie screenings and urged the Tamil Nadu government to adopt the same policy.
In addition, the owners suggested that ticket prices should be capped based on the type of theater. For multiplex theaters, the maximum ticket price should be set at ā¹250, for air-conditioned theaters at ā¹200, and for non-air-conditioned theaters at ā¹150.
Further, they appealed for theaters to be permitted to host other events, similar to how malls are allowed to hold various non-movie activities. These decisions and requests were put forward as part of their recent discussions to improve the cinema industry in Tamil Nadu.
