In a significant development in the Armstrong murder case, the special police have filed a 5,000-page charge sheet against 30 individuals, including life-imprisoned criminal, rowdy Nagendran, currently held at the Vellore Central Jail.
Armstrong, who was the Tamil Nadu leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party, was murdered under mysterious circumstances. The investigation is being led by West Chennai Deputy Commissioner Vijayakumar and Assistant Commissioner Saravanan, who are part of the special police unit.
While the motive behind the murder remains unclear, the police have struggled to identify the key culprits. However, during the investigation of Armstrong’s mobile phone records, it was discovered that Nagendran, who is serving a life sentence in jail, had been in communication regarding the murder.
Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Nagendran, while still incarcerated, orchestrated a conspiracy with the help of his associates to carry out the murder. The police have traced this plot back to an individual named Senthil, who allegedly collaborated with Nagendran to kill Armstrong.
Significantly, it has come to light that Aswathaman, the son of Nagendran, who was an administrator in the Tamil Nadu Youth Congress, played a key role in the crime, leading to his arrest. Following this, the special police also apprehended Nagendran.
Prior to their arrests, 26 associates, including rowdies Ponnai Baloo and Anjali, were taken into custody, although rowdy Thiruvengadam was shot dead by the police during the process.
