Authorities have imposed a ban on rental and open vehicles from participating in the Muthuramalinga Thevar Guru Puja festival, which is set to take place near Kamuthi in Pasumpon, Ramanathapuram district, on October 29 and 30.
The decision was made during a consultation meeting held yesterday at the office of the Ramanathapuram District Collector. The meeting, chaired by Collector Simranjit Singh Kahlon, outlined key restrictions and guidelines for the event.
In line with the Section 163(1) order currently in effect in the district, rental vehicles such as two-wheelers, tractors, autos, and goods vehicles will not be allowed to enter Pasumpon for the Guru Puja. Only those who own private four-wheelers can participate, but they must obtain vehicle permits from the respective DSP offices. Additionally, these private vehicles are not to be rented out under any circumstances.
Firecrackers are strictly prohibited on the festival routes. Vehicles coming from other districts must obtain the necessary permits in their respective regions. To accommodate the expected influx of devotees, extra bus services will be provided to Kamuthi on October 29 and 30 along the designated routes. The Collector urged everyone to strictly adhere to the regulations.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Sandheesh, District Revenue Officer Govindarajulu, and representatives from various organizations, ensuring widespread awareness of the guidelines for the smooth conduct of the event.
