Jammu & Kashmir Elections: CM Stalin Hails INDIA Alliance’s Victory as Triumph of DemocracyTamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed pride over the INDIA alliance’s victory in the Jammu & Kashmir elections, calling it a triumph of democracy. The Congress-led alliance secured a majority in the Union Territory, winning 49 out of the 90 seats, paving the way for Omar Abdullah to become the Chief Minister. National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah confirmed that his son, Omar, would be assuming office soon.
Taking to social media, CM Stalin congratulated the National Conference and Congress alliance on their resounding success. He also extended his appreciation to the people of Jammu & Kashmir for delivering a decisive mandate.
Stalin’s message read: “Congratulations to the National Conference and Congress alliance for their overwhelming victory in the Jammu & Kashmir elections. Special congratulations to the people of Kashmir for giving a massive win to the INDIA alliance. This victory is not just for the alliance, but for democracy itself.”
He further emphasized the need for the Union government to restore the dignity and statehood of Jammu & Kashmir, which was unjustly revoked by the central BJP government. “This is a moment that plants the seeds of hope for Kashmir’s future,” Stalin remarked, highlighting the aspirations of the people to reclaim their identity and rights.
The election results have been seen as a significant political development, not only for the region but also for the broader national narrative, as the INDIA alliance aims to strengthen its foothold in various states ahead of the 2024 general elections.
