In a sharp critique of the Tamil Nadu government, senior BJP leader H. Raja on Tuesday pointed out several shortcomings in its administration, using the recent Marina Air Show as an example. Speaking in Tiruchirappalli, Raja claimed that the government failed to provide basic amenities like drinking water for attendees at the event.Raja also took a dig at Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, accusing him of neglecting his responsibilities since being elevated as deputy chief minister. “Udhayanidhi is more focused on car races than on fulfilling his duties,” he remarked.
Criticizing the state’s law enforcement, Raja said, “The Tamil Nadu police have not arrested a single terrorist so far, and apart from ganja, they have failed to seize any other drugs.” He further predicted that the DMK, which he described as losing on all fronts, would be defeated by the people in the 2026 state assembly elections.
Raja also accused the Tamil Nadu government of mismanaging its finances, claiming that the state’s treasury is nearly empty and that it struggles to pay teachers’ salaries. He predicted a worsening financial situation in the coming months. “In three months, the government may not even be able to pay its employees,” he warned, adding that the DMK administration is attempting to shift the blame onto the central government.
He emphasized that only with the growth of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) would Scheduled Caste communities in Tamil Nadu feel safe. Raja concluded by stating that if social justice is to be achieved, the DMK government must be voted out of power.
His remarks come as the political landscape in Tamil Nadu heats up in the lead-up to the 2026 elections, with both the BJP and AIADMK seeking to challenge the ruling DMK.
