
Chennai has been placed under a red alert due to continuous heavy rainfall, which resumed early this morning. The red alert has been issued for Chennai, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, and Chengalpattu districts, warning of more heavy downpours.
Though the rain had subsided slightly last night, several parts of Chennai and its surrounding areas began experiencing rainfall again from early morning. Areas such as Kodambakkam, Nungambakkam, Adyar, Saidapet, and Guindy have witnessed significant rainfall.
In response, the Tamil Nadu government has implemented various precautionary measures to protect citizens from the effects of heavy rainfall. The Meteorological Department in Chennai has predicted intense rainfall over the next three hours in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Ranipet, and Vellore districts.
