At a party meeting in Theni, Naam Tamilar Katchi’s Chief Coordinator, Seeman, addressed the gathering with remarks about the political landscape, asserting, “While people may admire Tamil Vetrik Kazhagam leader Vijay, they will vote for me.”Seeman began by highlighting the unwavering independence of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), noting, “Despite standing alone and facing defeat in four elections, ours is the only party that continues to contest independently without compromise. Federal governance in India is the only solution to achieve an equitable society.” He further criticized the Congress party, accusing it of eroding state rights in education, introducing exams like NEET, and implementing policies like GST and the NIA, while adding that the BJP has only amplified these policies.
Touching upon Vijay’s entry into politics and other party alliances, Seeman said, “I welcome Vijay’s alliances and recognize his right to secure positions in power. However, the placement of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister within a single household raises questions of social justice. Similarly, the central government’s Prime Minister and Home Minister both come from Gujarat, raising concerns about regional favoritism.” Seeman also mentioned L. Murugan, who was appointed as a Union Minister despite his electoral defeat, suggesting that this violates the fundamental principles of democracy.
Seeman criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for running in two constituencies in the Lok Sabha elections and advocated for a caste census to ensure justice for all communities. He speculated that if Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar withdraw support, the BJP-led central government would collapse, and if that happened, he suggested that the DMK would support them to keep the administration intact.
“I contested independently, without offering even a single rupee per vote, and garnered 3.6 million votes. Naam Tamilar Katchi remains the only recognized political party in Indian history to achieve this without monetary incentives,” Seeman stated, underscoring NTK’s clean record and appeal based on principles. He remarked, “The size of the crowd should not be the basis for judgment. It’s natural for people to gather in large numbers when an actor makes an appearance, but that’s not necessarily a measure of political support.”
