The Salem district AIADMK (All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) leaders’ consultation meeting took place yesterday in Veerappampalayam, where AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami addressed the gathering.In his speech, Palaniswami criticized the ruling DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) party, stating, “Only one family holds power in DMK. People will not tolerate dynasty politics, and hence, the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections will mark the end of dynasty politics.”
He further accused the government of neglecting Salem, adding, “The position of minister has been given to Salem like placing a patient on a ventilator for emergency care. For three and a half years, they did not meet the public, but now, with the ministerial post in hand, they are conducting public meetings.”
Following the consultation meeting, Palaniswami addressed reporters and raised questions about the recent remarks on AIADMK by Desiya Vijayakanth Katchi (DVK) leader Vijayakanth. “It’s unclear why others are agitated by Vijayakanth’s silence on AIADMK. We have implemented numerous plans for the people during our 30 years in power. In such a case, why would Vijayakanth criticize AIADMK?” Palaniswami questioned.
When asked by reporters about whether AIADMK would follow a similar strategy as DMK’s ‘Vidiyal’ (Dawn) journey, which Stalin used to strengthen his claim to power, Palaniswami responded, “Wait patiently. We have many plans in place. It is not possible to disclose everything right now.”
