Actor Vijay recently launched his political party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, and held a massive rally in Vikravandi on October 28, where he outlined his party’s policies. Vijay declared DMK and BJP as his primary political adversaries while avoiding criticism of Congress and AIADMK. He promised that his party would be based on the dual principles of “Dravidian and Tamil Nationalism.”The huge turnout at the Vikravandi rally has become a talking point in Tamil Nadu politics. Vijay’s political entry was initially welcomed by Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) Chief Coordinator Seeman, who had consistently addressed Vijay as “Thambi” (younger brother) and praised him. However, Seeman’s sudden shift to harshly criticizing Vijay has sparked surprise in political circles.
In a recent public gathering celebrating “Tamil Nadu Day” in Chennai, Seeman launched a scathing critique of Vijay’s policies, calling them “foolish.” He remarked, “One must stand either on the left side or the right side of the road. Standing in the middle will get you hit by a truck—and only death awaits if you’re hit.”
Seeman contrasted his background with Vijay’s, saying, “I didn’t come into politics from an air-conditioned room; I’ve come from hardship, thinking deeply. I am not here to tell short stories; I am here to teach history.” He firmly added that NTK would oppose anyone, even a “brother,” who stands against their principles.
With the attention Vijay’s Vikravandi rally drew, speculations have emerged that NTK’s voter base could shift to Vijay’s new party, potentially causing a decline in Seeman’s political standing. This possible shift in support has fueled predictions that NTK’s influence may diminish as Vijay’s popularity grows.
