EPS forms panel to bolster AIADMK’s grassroots presence

In a strategic move to strengthen the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) at the grassroots level, party general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) has announced the formation of a 10-member committee. This committee will review and evaluate the party’s village-level units comprising wards and zones in preparation for the 2026 Assembly elections.

The committee will be headed by AIADMK deputy general secretary K.P. Munusamy and will include senior leaders Dindigul C. Srinivasan, Natham R. Viswanathan, P. Thangamani, S.P. Velumani, D. Jayakumar, C.Ve. Shanmugam, and B. Valarmathi. The members have been tasked with traveling across the state to meet party functionaries in all 82 district units to assess their performance and gather feedback.

According to party sources, the committee will also engage with AIADMK cadres to collect suggestions on strengthening the party’s reach and influence. This move is seen as a part of EPS’s larger strategy to consolidate party support and build momentum against the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) ahead of the upcoming elections.

During their field inspections, committee members will ensure the proper distribution of membership cards to the cadre and assess the functioning of various party wings. EPS stated that the committee will compile their findings and submit a comprehensive report on their observations by December 7.

Palaniswami’s directive follows a recent high-level meeting held at the party’s Chennai headquarters, where district secretaries were briefed on the importance of grassroots mobilization. EPS underscored that this exercise is crucial for reinforcing the party’s network and laying the groundwork for an effective campaign for the 2026 Assembly polls.

District secretaries have been instructed to facilitate the committee’s visits and ensure seamless coordination during their review process. EPS also issued a clarion call urging district functionaries to expose the ruling DMK’s shortcomings and create an atmosphere of anti-incumbency in preparation for the elections.

This initiative highlights EPS’s efforts to consolidate party unity and amplify AIADMK’s political presence at the village level, aiming for a stronger electoral performance in the 2026 state assembly elections.
