With just two days to go for the release of Suriya’s much-anticipated fantasy period action film Kanguva, directed by Siva, the Tamil Nadu government has granted permission for special screenings in theatres. In an official announcement, the government revealed that special shows will be allowed at 9 am on November 14, the day of the film’s release. This decision comes after a request from Studio Green, the film’s production company, for special early shows at 5 am on November 14 and 15. However, the government has approved only one special show for 9 am on November 14. Additionally, the maximum number of shows allowed in Tamil Nadu theatres has been limited to five per day, with the last show concluding by 2 am.
Along with the approval for special shows, the government has issued guidelines to theatres to ensure smooth operations. The theatres are required to make proper security arrangements, ensuring that audiences can enter and exit without difficulty. Sufficient time must also be provided to clean and maintain the theatres in a hygienic manner. Furthermore, theatres must collaborate with local police authorities to prevent overcrowding and maintain public health standards.
