Krishnagiri, Nov 15: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS) has expressed confidence that actor Vijay’s recently launched political party, TVK, will not erode the AIADMK’s voter base. Speaking to reporters in Krishnagiri, EPS responded to questions about the potential influence of TVK on youth voters, stating that it was too early to assess the impact as Vijay’s political journey had just begun.
EPS underscored the AIADMK’s strong organizational structure and its legacy of effective governance under the leadership of former chief ministers M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa. He emphasized that these foundations ensured the party’s continued strength across Tamil Nadu.
Responding to Chief Minister M K Stalin’s claims that AIADMK had failed to implement meaningful projects during its tenure, EPS refuted the allegations. He highlighted the new electricity policy that was established during his leadership and noted various manufacturing companies that commenced operations in Tamil Nadu under the AIADMK government. Additionally, he mentioned several water supply projects and the establishment of educational institutions, including a government medical college.
EPS criticized the current DMK government for involving agriculture students in land survey tasks, arguing that this decision posed safety risks due to potential encounters with snakes and other animals. He warned that the state government would be held accountable for any harm that might befall students during these activities.
Reiterating his political strategy, EPS stated that he had extended invitations only to non-BJP parties to join an alliance aimed at ousting the DMK government.
On a different note, EPS condemned the recent incident of a doctor being stabbed in Chennai, describing it as unacceptable. He voiced his support for the medical community, acknowledging their hard work and calling for their protection.
The meeting in Krishnagiri was attended by AIADMK deputy general secretary K P Munusamy, Rajya Sabha MP M Thambidurai, former ministers K C Veeramani, Anbazagan, Balakrishna Reddy, MLA Ashokumar, and former MP Perumal.
