Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin announced that the Tamil Nadu government is carrying out significant development projects in Thoothukudi district, including a 1,156-acre international furniture park and a ₹300 crore Tiruchendur Master Plan Project. Speaking at a review meeting at the Collector’s office, he outlined that the furniture park, with an investment of ₹1,000 crore, aims to transform Thoothukudi into a major manufacturing hub, boosting local employment. He also mentioned the ₹30 crore mini Tidel Park, which is set to strengthen the IT sector in the district. Udhayanidhi inspected various government schemes like “Mudalvarin Mugavari,” “Makkaludan Mudalvar,” and “Neengal Nalama,” urging officials to expedite their implementation. Welfare assistance worth ₹206.46 crore was distributed to 7,893 beneficiaries across departments such as agriculture, rural development, and the differently-abled welfare board, showcasing the government’s commitment to inclusive support. Addressing the media, Udhayanidhi emphasized that, as directed by Chief Minister MK Stalin, reviews are being conducted statewide to monitor progress and ensure timely completion of projects initiated in the last three and a half years. He assured that any delays would be resolved with the help of district officials and Ministers to guarantee swift project completion, reflecting the government’s dedication to development and welfare in Thoothukudi.
