Actor and T.V.K. leader Vijay has called on the authorities to take strict measures to combat the growing violence against women, emphasizing the need for cooperation with the judiciary.
In his statement, Vijay highlighted that while women’s progress on the global stage has been more encouraging than in the past, their safety continues to be a significant concern. He expressed sorrow over the increasing reports of violence against women and girls in Tamil Nadu, a state that advocates for women’s empowerment.
Vijay stressed the need for the government to act with a firm hand, in collaboration with the judiciary, to prevent further violence. He also supported the suggestion from the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, which recommended the creation of a dedicated online platform for reporting sexual offenses against women and girls.
He urged the Tamil Nadu government to take immediate action by establishing a specialized website to ensure the safety and protection of women and girls. On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Vijay reiterated the importance of addressing these issues effectively and ensuring women’s security in society.
