Fire incident in Sabarimala Express near Tiruppur

Tiruppur, Nov 28: A minor fire broke out on the Sabarimala Express train traveling from Kerala to Andhra Pradesh near Tiruppur today.

The Sabarimala Express, running from Kollam, Kerala, to Masulipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, was passing through the Coimbatore-Tiruppur route when the incident occurred. Near Vanchipalayam, a fire was noticed in the disabled-friendly coach at the rear of the train.

The train was immediately halted after a ticket examiner noticed thick smoke and alerted the authorities. Firefighters were called to the scene, and the fire was successfully extinguished.

An initial inquiry revealed that the fire was caused by friction between the train’s wheel and the rubber lining of the brake system, leading to smoke and a minor blaze.

The issue was resolved within 30 minutes, and the train resumed its journey safely. No injuries or major damage were reported.

Authorities are continuing investigations to ensure such incidents are prevented in the future.
