Actor Shaam’s upcoming film, Asthram, directed by debutant Aravind Rajagopal, has officially locked its release date. The much-anticipated crime-investigation thriller will hit theatres on February 21.
Starring model-turned-actor Niranjani alongside Shaam, the film boasts an intriguing narrative penned by Jegan M S. The supporting cast includes veterans like Nizhalgal Ravi, Aroul D Shankar, and Jeeva Ravi, alongside newcomer Ranjith DSM.
Aravind Rajagopal, who brings a decade of experience in short films, makes his feature film debut with Asthram. Speaking about the project, Aravind shared that the story’s origins trace back to a 30-minute pilot film created during the pandemic. “Recognising its potential, my team and I decided to expand it into a full-length feature. The talented writer Jegan has intricately crafted an enthralling crime-investigation thriller,” said the director.
Shaam plays the role of a determined cop in Asthram. Aravind revealed how Shaam came on board, saying, “I reached out to him through social media to narrate the plot. Despite not knowing me personally, he trusted my words and invited me to his office. After hearing the story, he immediately agreed to take on the role.”
The technical crew of Asthram includes Sundaramoorthy as the music composer, known for his work in Airaa, 8 Thottakkal, and Bommai Nayagi. Kalyan handles cinematography, while Boopathy is in charge of editing.
Backed by Dhana Shanmugamani under the banner of Best Movies, Asthram has secured theatrical distribution through Five Star Company.
