Who is That Sir? Provide Evidence if You Have Any: CM

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, responding to allegations made by opposition parties in the Assembly, challenged them to provide evidence for their claims. “If you truly have proof about ‘that sir,’ share it with the Special Investigation Team (SIT). Who is stopping you?” he said while addressing the ongoing debate on the Anna University student sexual assault case.

During a discussion on a calling attention motion brought by opposition parties, CM Stalin clarified that while the opposition named the university during the debate, he refrained from tarnishing the institution’s name. He described the incident involving the sexual assault of a student in Chennai as a heinous crime that no one could accept.

Justice Will Prevail
The CM asserted that the government’s priority is to stand by the victim and deliver justice. He dismissed allegations suggesting political motives and reiterated that Tamil Nadu’s government has no agenda other than ensuring justice through lawful measures.

“If the accused had not been arrested or if the government had protected them, your criticisms would have been valid. However, in this case, the accused was arrested within hours, and evidence was collected promptly,” he added.

Leak of FIR
CM Stalin addressed concerns raised about the leak of the First Information Report (FIR), pointing out that the National Informatics Centre (NIC), which operates under the Central Government, had clarified the situation. He added that surveillance cameras within the premises were instrumental in identifying and apprehending the accused.
Strict Measures Taken
The arrested individual, Gnana Sekaran, has been detained under the Goondas Act and is currently in jail. The SIT, appointed under the directive of the Madras High Court, is investigating the case. “If others are found to be involved, action will be taken against them, regardless of who they are. I assure this Assembly of our commitment to justice,” the CM said.
Charge Sheet in 60 Days
Highlighting the swift actions taken by the government, CM Stalin confirmed that the charge sheet in the case would be filed within 60 days. “The SIT has been thorough, and there is no room for compromise or delay,” he asserted.
